Frankfurt, 8:40AM
Dear family and friends,
I try to make an effort to remember
goodbyes – it’s hard to say when I will next see those that I am bidding
farewell, and I want to savour the details. But, as I sit in the Frankfurt
Flughafen (airport) waiting for my second flight to board, I feel like I’m in a
completely different universe and those goodbyes seem extremely far away. It’s strange to think that just over 12
hours ago I was finishing up packing my room and saying goodbye to my friends
in Guelph.
I had a pleasant flight. I watched the
Muppet Movie (hilarious) and a few episodes of Community (equally
hilarious). I slept for about an
hour, but had some coffee boost my energy. It’ll be about 3 or 4 hours until I get home and have the
opportunity to sleep (probably about 6AM Ontario time), and I’ll probably pass
out on the car ride home. What I’m
not looking forward to is having to manoeuvre my two 50lb suitcases onto buses
and trams, but then after that I get to see my parents for the first time in
four months, so I won’t complain.
I will post this when I get home and have
free wi-fi (it costs €4.95 per hour here!)
and probably after I’ve had a well-deserved 16 hour cat-nap. But now, I’ll wait for my flight, read,
and enjoy every bite of my €4.00 yogurt…ahh, it’s good to be home…
